This US government contractor has been our MSP client since 2007, with payrolling services added to the program in 2017.
In May 2020, the client had the opportunity to bid for a project to run the COVID-19 contact-tracing program for a US state.
To succeed, the company needed a payrolling partner that could support the project and approached us to collaborate on the tender bid.
Following the governor’s public announcement of the partnership with the US government contractor on 1 May, the team had to move extremely quickly to get the first cohort of workers ready by 6 May. This needed to be achieved during the early stages of the pandemic, when remote onboarding was not yet the norm.
The project moved quickly after the governor’s public announcement, creating an urgent need to prepare workers within days.
Workers needed to be onboarded remotely at the beginning of the pandemic, when this approach was not yet standard practice.
Initial worker numbers increased significantly as demand for the project spiked, with the number of people due to be payrolled almost quadrupling.
The process for sourcing suitable candidates had to be refined and fine-tuned throughout the course of the project.
Real-time reporting and visibility were essential because the project came under extreme public and media scrutiny.
Following a successful bid, Guidant worked with a trusted affiliate to deliver the initial payrolling of 300 individuals for COVID-19 contact tracing. As the scope changed, the support became a co-sourcing collaboration, combining resourcing expertise, candidate networks and contacts provided by the state.
The first cohort of workers was ready by 6 May, despite the short timeframe and the need for complete remote onboarding. As project requirements increased, Guidant was tasked with co-sourcing and onboarding 500 people within the first two weeks, then continued to co-source and onboard an additional 400 workers for a further three months.
The first cohort of workers was ready by 6 May, just days after the governor’s public announcement on 1 May.
Guidant co-sourced and onboarded 500 people within the first two weeks, meeting the urgent need from the state to hire quickly.
Due to the success of the programme, Guidant continued to co-source and onboard an additional 400 workers for a further three months.
In total, more than 3,800 candidates were contacted by the team to support the project.
Real-time data gave the client and the state complete clarity and visibility of each individual’s progress during the hiring cycle.
The success of the engagement resulted in further collaboration and expansion of the relationship with the government contractor.
The contact-tracing work has now been integrated into vaccine customer services management.
